It is not death most people are afraid of. Most people are not afraid of the possibility of there being a bad outcome. Most people are not afraid of what they did do or the mistakes they did make. They’re afraid of getting to the end of life only to realize that you never truly lived. People are afraid of getting to the point in life and realizing they did not accomplish the things they wanted to accomplish. A great man named Prince EA made a video titled:
“Everybody dies, but Not Everybody Lives”.
Prince EA talks about lack of passion in our lives, lack of appreciation of the beautiful world that was given to us, and ultimately the lack of being human. He talks about how most humans are not living as humans but as an attachment to a giant system.
Gary Vaynerchuck made a video titled “Monday Morning Motivational Video”
Gary talks about the incredible opportunities that are around you everyday. If you are not happy with your life – change is possible. Change is only impossible if you make it so. You are capable of creating a school in Guatemala. You are capable of adding more digits to your salary. You are capable of living a life full of love and creating smiles on peoples faces every time you meet someone. But you are only capable of doing these things if you believe in yourself more than I believe in you.
Every single day we wake up and run through our day in a systematic pattern. We hate Mondays. We hate waking up in the morning. We always wait for the weekend. We always wait for holidays or summer breaks. The level of complaining about our lives is unacceptable. The amount of groans that I hear come from people as they talk about Monday’s or waking up in the mornings are disgusting. The reality is those who complain about Monday mornings are taking life FOR GRANTED. They think this life is going to last a long time. They think they have all the time in the world to pursue their dreams, to pursue their passions, and to create a future for themselves. What if I told you that you were going to die today? What if I told you that if you wake up at 5AM today, you have 19 hours left to live. What if I told you that if you slept in till 12 today, you have 12 hours left to live. Would you wake up early or would you sleep in? Would you live differently that day or would you live the same? Would you complain about that job that you dread? Would you still binge watch your favorite TV episode and sit on your couch? Or would you restore the relationship with that friend, your parents, or your neighbor. Would you be filled with passion to connect with all the people you love?
The point I’m trying to make is there is so much opportunity in this world. If you live everyday like that each day could be your last, your life would unfold in front of you. The amount of opportunities you would chase would keep you productive, happy, and successful. If you want to start your own business, make music, make art, create a non-profit organization, pay off your debt, get a job you can really excel in, make your spouse happier – why are you waiting? What are you waiting for? Are you waiting for the world to do it FOR YOU? Because the reality is that so many people miss is NOTHING will change if you do not make the changes. The longer you wait the LESS time you have to do what you want. The longer you wait the less time you have to make a great impact on your community, your school, or your work place. Do you want to live a mundane lifestyle or do you want to live with passion and be so excited for life that it is hard for you to sleep at night?
I do not think you realize the incredible potential you have. You were hand crafted with a unique design and purpose. You have talents and skills that you can offer to the world. No, not that you CAN offer to the world but that you SHOULD offer to the world. Because I believe – If i am not offering up myself as a servant and utilizing my abilities for the greater good of someone else – I am selfish. Imagine what the world would look like if we all lived as servants to one another. Imagine what the world would look like if we all utilized our talents, skills, and abilities to effectively impact the lives around us.
I can imagine that. Maybe I can’t reach the whole world. But I can try to reach as many as I can to live as awesome as they can. Living awesome and living up to your potential means putting the remote down, thinking what you really want to do with your life, and doing it.
John Maxwell wrote a book titled “Intentional Living”.
“DOUBT: If you see him call the cops and keep him away from the kids because he is wanted for murder. So he has killed more dreams than failure ever did. He wears many disguises and like a virus will leave you blinded, divided and turn you into a kinda.
See kinda is lethal. You know what kinda is? There is a lot of kinda people, you kinda want a career change, you kinda want to get straight A’s, you kinda want to get in shape. Simple math, no numbers to crunch. If you kinda want something, then you will kinda get the results you want.”
I hope you die one day with memories, and not dreams. I hope you are not like the older gentlemen and ladies that I sometimes spend time with who regret so much about their life. I hope you hope more for your life more than I hope for your life.
Just Do It. It is as simple as that. Do not live with regret. Live with passion and live intentionally.
